  • Sovereign are very proud to be associated with Team GB Transplant Sport over the next 12 months and beyond.

The transformative effect that a transplant can have on someone's life is something that I have been able to witness first hand. A few years ago my cousin David in Dublin required a heart transplant in his early 50's. He had to wait bed-bound for nearly a full year as hearts rarely become available and compatible hearts even less so. When a suitable heart was finally found and successfully transplanted, and with the incredible care and help of the transplant staff, David was able to get out of bed and live a relatively normal life for another 2 years before he sadly passed.

During those 2 years David participated at the European Transplant Games in Holland representing Ireland in table tennis and swimming. This was an undoubted highlight for him during his new lease of life and he regularly spoke glowingly of the organisation and the camaraderie of so many transplant patients coming together and the support such a gathering gives to all.

Our target is to help transplant patients from Kings Hospital Kids Team attend this year's British Transplant Games in Bolton and then support Team GB when they attend the 2015 World Transplant Games in Argentina.
